Yoga poses to avoid during pregnancy
Pregnancy is really a crucial period for a woman. She has to take care of herself more these days. Yoga during pregnancy can improve your energy and help you relax, de-stress, meditate. And yoga is a great way to make herself healthy. But all yoga poses are not good for health. Some poses are really harmful to women and also for their baby.
Also, try to perform yoga under the supervision of yoga trainer or instructor. Stay hydrated while performing yoga by keeping a water bottle next to you. Once you become pregnant, it is advisable to avoid overstretching poses. Do yoga in a proper place with proper clothing and also get your doctors’ approval regarding your exercise before performing.
Following are some yoga poses which must be avoided during pregnancy
1. Locust Pose
Locust pose and any other related poses need to be avoided your entire pregnancy because it puts a lot of pressure by lying on your belly which is really harmful to you and your baby. So, perform the only healthy pose during pregnancy.
2. Plank Cross (Twist Variations)
It is advisable to avoid this pose because there are numerous variations of the twist like some seated, some in this plank-type position (twist by your upper body and close in on your belly). You should avoid them as they put too much stress on your belly. In case if u feel good then you can perform these twists only during the first trimester but not after the first trimester.
3. Boat Pose (and Other Crunching Poses)
It’s a good idea to avoid boat pose and any related pose that put additional stress on your belly. As stress is on your belly, so it is really harmful to you and your baby. “Crunch-type” poses could increase the severity of diastasis recti (abdominal muscle separation).
4. Plow Pose
This pose and other related yoga pose need to be avoided during your pregnancy because folding over can put too much stress on your core which is also not a good exercise for you and your baby.
